I'm Helen Carefoot, a service and lifestyle journalist based in Washington D.C. and working at The Washington Post.
I cover a range of topics in the lifestyle section including home and design, wellness and health, travel and parenting. I write useful service pieces, pithy explainers and debunks, and narrative features.
My work has appeared in: National Geographic.com, Washingtonian, USA Today, The Desert Sun, Chalkbeat, Sunset, Indiewire, the Palo Alto Weekly, and others. I won an Online News Award in 2017 for my work on an immersive VR series about a Native American nation living along the shores of the Salton Sea.
I graduated from the University of Southern California in 2017, where I studied journalism and international relations and spent too much time riding my beach cruiser.
